So we'll do a three-card draw. The first card I'm gonna pull is going to be the card that I think represents where you're at right now. And then the next two cards will be where you're going and what you need to focus on to get to that point.
That's imagining like a dumpster fire. On top of Mount Lemon.

Just kidding. This is Nat One Presents, a tabletop role-playing game podcast that takes your favorite nerdy games of pop culture icons and ruins them with improv.
We go Hello and welcome to Nat One Presents the podcast.
Welcome Nate and welcome very special guest, Chris's girlfriend. Hey Chris's girlfriend.
Hi, I'm Chris's girlfriend. Glad to be here.
In the studio today, the one, the only female counterpart to Chris. Um I have questions for you. I have many questions.
I have many questions too.
Despite so I I've known Chris uh since college, so circa, you know, 2010. Basically your whole life. Basically my whole life. Um, but no, that's at least 11 years. I know nothing, literally nothing about him. He is an enigma of a man. And could you just tell me anything I wouldn't know, like anything. Tell me something. He shows up, says like 17 words an entire like two-hour episode session. Um, and that's it.
I think the most shocking thing about Chris is he can actually formulate more than one sentence at a time.
Does he do that with you? No.
Yes. He's talked to me for like a solid five sentences before. About what? Everything. Typically, he just talks about Magic the Gathering and how he needs to teach you how to play.
Oh, yeah, I'm pretty bad. That's okay. He's a good teacher, though. Alright. So he is just like more social than than on the podcast.
It seems like it.
I will take your word for it.
I know, it's weird. Everybody's like, oh my gosh, you're dating Chris? What's that like? Is it like dating a wall? No, no, it's it's pretty nice. He's an excellent listener at the very least. And I never shut up, so it's perfect.
Oh, I can see that. I can see that. You guys balance each other well. We're really happy to have you on the show. And the premise for today, um, you're a pretty spooky [expletive]. Um, for those not paying the $1 Patreon fee because you're [expletive] cheap. It's just a dollar. Just a dollar. Just a dollar. Um Chris's girlfriend is black frame glasses, black clone black hair, a black, what was that, Satan on your shirt? A bat?
No, it is a bat and a death moth and a moon and all kinds of cool stuff.
With very spooky ripped pants. The point being very spooky. It's very spooky. And in fact, I can already tell Nate's a little put off because uh Nate's used to be in the OG spooky [expletive]. Yeah. I'm sweating over here. He's sweating. You can smell it. Hey, just got off work. Just kidding.
It gets even scarier because I do special effects makeup too. But I wanted to have mercy on you and not come in in full zombie regalia.
I mean, that would have been nice for the patrons. It would have been nice, but it's also for the best because Nate probably would have freaked out and like hit you over the head with a stool.
Next episode, if you guys want to see that, let them know. Pay that extra dollar, buy a McChicken for our friends.
It's it's why we didn't invite him to the uh Terror in the corn because he would have injured at least like a third of the cast.
I've seen enough scary movies where you fight the guy.
Don't run. You'll trip. You turn around and you just fight him. Your face is mutilated. Well, it's about to be worse. I'm about to give you at least a headache because nah, I'm hitting you in the face with the first thing in my hand. Like, I I guarantee you would like attack somebody who tried to scare you, like legitimately. Well, sometimes. Sometimes I get like, oh do you? Yes, I'm trying to. I can't imagine.
I get jumpy.
All right, premise for today. Yes. Uh so we'll get into it. So we have some intros, we have some some current events we could talk about, some things you seem not super excited about. Right. Um super excited. But then I'm going to uh kind of I don't know what, like uh cloister trials or like uh uh Harry Potter Tri-Wizard event. I'm gonna see uh three spooky challenges for you guys, and then I will determine who the bigger spooky of [expletive] is. Because we know it's not me, right? So I have no stake in this battle. So I might as well see.
What else are you in, by the way?
Uh real quick, take a guess. What house do you think I'm in?
Oh, that's tough.
Hufflepuff.
God damn it. Yes, I'm a Hufflepuff.
I knew it. I called it. Okay, so it's 1.8 for clairvoyance, and also he's a Slytherin, which is just naturally more evil and spooky. Oh, yeah. Okay. I'm also in too. I thought I wasn't. We're two peas in one pot. Two, yeah, two like fangs on one venomous snake. That sounds right. Anyway, so anyway. You ruined venomous snake because now I only think of it.
From 5:00
The battle.
He can't get enough of that venom. Um so anyway, all right, current events. Uh, this is the part of the show, uh, Chris's girlfriend. We are going to just keep referring. You have to win today's trial to earn your name on the show. Um, so Chris's girlfriend, uh, this is the part of the show where we talk about current events. Um, I know Nate, you had one from the comic book world.
Yeah, I saw an article the other day, and I just say saw because I glanced at it, read the title, and then kept moving. Where Superman is now bisexual.
Like So, first of all, I got questions, right? I got so many questions. As the as the as the uh obligatory gay here, right? I should be like, woo, more representation. But like what? Like, like, where is this coming from? Like, this characters have been around forever. Yes. So what is this is this another because there's you know multiple DC universes, so is this a different universe where there's like I didn't get that far into it.
I scrolled through, I saw the title, and then it had a picture of a younger-looking Superman kissing a uh tall, dark, and handsome fella. Okay.
I my concern is I love authentic representation. I'm all about it. I just really feel like every couple weeks now, Nate, we have a new story. So literally the order in which I was hearing about it. So what was it? I well, there was the one about Robin where like one of the Robins uh in one of the comics recently like hooks up with somebody he rescued and they have like a fling, and it's kind of like he says he's unsure of you know where Batman knew it. Batman knew it. He had it.
Man, you can't wear tights that tight without being just a little gay.
And you didn't even listen to last week's episode, so I'm so proud you got it. Right on, right on. Um, and so that was one of them. And then there was like there was one more in between where I was like, Hey Nate, did you hear like they're announcing that this character is like official gay or something? And there's been, but it's like every couple months, it's every couple of years, and I just wonder like, just give me like an authentic, give me like a new hero that like has an actual backstory that you didn't just inject 30 years into its history, you know. Like, I just give me a good one. So it's not even a big deal. Like, no, I fight crime. What's what's it matter? You know, like who cares?
Yeah, it's it's also pretty irrelevant. I agree. Well, and then it, you know, like I I guess unless it's like one of those universe spin-offs, like the whole Lois Lane thing. Like, he has an established relationship. Like, there's there's heroes where like I don't know who [expletive] um Green Lantern dates. I really don't, right? But like I know who Superman dates, it's Lois Lane. Like, so that's probably a weird I don't know. No, I'm with you on that. That actually makes I didn't even think about that. That makes perfect sense. It'll be like Spider-Man be like, nah, I'm gay now. Yeah, like right. This is a redhead guy. His name's Barry. I got a thing for the redheads. Yeah.
Anyway, um, you know, like obviously we're a huge fan of all [expletive] whatever is on the show, but comic books, I just feel I'm getting tired of Marvel. I'm getting tired of DC. They're just they're they're like shooting these headlines out just to get our attention. Right. And score to pandering. And Nate is not a fan of pandering. Not a fan of pandering. No, not that kind of pandering. Right. Hot take, Autumn. Or Chris Garrett. Chris Girlfriend.
I've already earned my name, I guess. No, no, no. That's okay.
Don't push it for it. We'll cut it out in editing. What are you, what are your thoughts?
Honestly.
And you can disagree with us and be like, you guys are [expletive] bigots.
No, no. I honestly, you're right. Superman does have Lois Lane as the established girlfriend. Obviously, Disney's not gonna do that. Uh, they fear the homosexuality. We know this. That's why we have to be cut. Anyway, um, but no, he is established as a heterosexual. And honestly, I feel like this maybe just came about because a lot of people were like, hmm, I want to see Henry Cavill suck some [expletive].
Do you want to see that, Nate? Wait, was this an angle? Because hold on. Sorry. I didn't realize that was on the table.
I take back everything I said.
I might be kind of for that.
I don't know yet.
Wow. I just had heat flashes, like, ooh, I don't even know what we're talking about. No, but I don't know. Yeah, I feel like don't recycle me heroes who have been historically heterosexual. Like, give me a great, like authentic bisexual superhero. I don't know. So that's that's just my thoughts. Right. And not to say that we can't reinvent superheroes, they can't change over time. That's okay too. Like, um, it's because I I don't know, like what the original Green Lantern was like white, but the one I know is black because Justice League uh on Cartoon Network, that's my like I and I don't remember which I don't remember all the names.
I wasn't too torn up about it, yeah you know, like yep.
So they they can change over time, but like for me it's like singular is one thing, but then their sexuality, like, well, that's getting really right, that's some major changes to their like you know, everything. Their whole character, yeah. We'll see. I don't know. That's my thought. Um, what else do we have in the current events world? Anything, Chris's girlfriend, bring to mind.
Well, the new Halloween is coming up, Halloween Kills, where Michael Myers will again try and slaughter some people.
From 10:00
It's the same family, too, right? Right?
Lori Strode, girl, set up bear trap. Get some gotta get saw in there for him. Michael, do you want to play a game?
Ooh, that would be good. It's the same thing over and over again. Like, how many times are you gonna just run away from this guy?
Oh my gosh. Yeah, you know, and and he's not like a super interesting villain. Right.
He doesn't say [expletive]. It's just like Jason, like Chris. Yeah, it'd be like Chris trying to kill me. Like, well, you're gonna talk to me first? Nope, just gonna kill you. Yeah, like, all right, well, at least we tried having a conversation.
Uh but wait, what were you saying about Jason?
Well, it's the same thing. He doesn't say anything.
Yeah, it's just I'm gonna kill you. Right. He doesn't even say he's gonna kill you, he just kills you. I I mean, you guys are the horror experts here, but for me, like, I I like Freddie Kruger is so much more interesting. Like, there's a there's a backstory, there is a like a creepy dialogue, there is there's a lot, and then there's multiple movies. I don't know, but like they've read they can redo him as many times as they want, and I'd be okay with it. But Freddie, like Halloween, oh my god, or Friday the 13th, like yeah, just [expletive] wake me up when it's over.
Yeah, but the thing about it is like Robert England, who plays Freddie Krueger in the originals, he is so good and so witty and fantastic. Yes, and the remake that happened, I don't know, like five or ten years ago, where they had the guy who played Rorschach from Watchmen's, it was like, let's make Freddy Krueger, but let's make him an edgy emo kid, even more so than he was, and take away all the comedic value because like he was so funny. Oh yeah, oh my gosh.
It's bad. It's a great point. And so for the trivia, I actually was trying to read, I was of course I wanted some Freddy Krueger trivia in there. And I I hadn't actually seen, like, seen the the remake, the 2010, whatever. So I read the plot and I was like, Am I being like punked right now? Like, it's so meta.
Oh, yeah.
Like, like the actor who plays Freddie Krueger is haunted by Freddy Kruger. Like, that's the premise of like the movie, right?
Like, what it's a whole weird thing, and then they tried to make him a kitty diddler too, and like that was never part of his thing, being a kitty diddler. Like, why are you gonna throw this in now? Like, he's already a stone cold killer.
He's the son of a hundred maniacs, right? Like, why does he need to be diddling?
You're good, right? You're good. Is that a quiz? Yeah, I came. I came across it. Yeah, it's gonna be tough. I don't know. See, all right, so I have to be honest, Chris's girlfriend. Um, my money is still on Nate. I know Nate better, so I know he has a vast knowledge, but already in our conversations, you are dropping these hints. I'm nervous. I think you're gonna give him maybe some competition. You might be the first person on the show.
Oh, I'm I'm so excited for that.
I'm so nervous. Chris doesn't. I uh don't. Mortal Kombat trivia. I had a couple good ones, yeah, some good ones, but no, I I couldn't even name all the [expletive] uh I couldn't name the tribes of [expletive] sub zero and scorpion, right? Can you what are the tribes?
I cannot name that. I can name exactly one character, and it's the character that I geek out about the most.
Which one?
Cindell.
Okay.
Yeah.
Why? Because it's the s it's the spooky [expletive]. She's that's very super cool. She's so cool. Chowing and blah by Cindell.
Uh by the way, uh, because girlfriend, I actually met Robin England when I worked at a hotel. I told Nate the story, so I'll just go through it really fast. But in Worcester, I worked at a hotel and they do uh a convention called Rock and Shock, which is like horror movies, and they have so I've met like the machete guy, why his name I always forget. Danny Trejo. Danny Trejo, yeah. I've met a bunch of them, and actually all most of the horror guys are actually pretty [expletive] cool. Like, and as a hotel person, like I worked the overnight shift, so I [expletive] dealt with their needs at night when they got back from the convention.
That's not a real sexual, but um, but no, and actually the horror horror actors were actually all pretty cool. The um now people from like we I've had like Gary Busey or like some of the band members from Metallica, and they were huge [expletive]. So uh, but pretty cool Robert England. Uh it was pretty cool meeting him, and I was super afraid of Freddie Kruger when I was younger, so it was like a real like defining moment to meet the guy who acted like the thing you hated, um, and then him to be like a super cool guy. Right. He did get up super early to check out though, and that freaked the [expletive] out of me. I'm like, you can't you need to leave.
Freddie Krueger doesn't sleep.
That's right.
Oh, that's so cool though. I'm so jealous. That is so cool.
You would have loved Rock and Shire at some point. And Chris is from like that's where we went to college, he's from the East Coast. So we'll have to we'll have to take you back uh and experience once if conventions ever come back someday. Someday.
I have personally been gently poking him, like, hey, we should we should go to your hometown, we should go to Massachusetts, we should go to Salem, we should do spooky things.
Yeah, there's a lot of spooky [expletive] in New England, but uh, I think Chris is from like the woods, basically. So like woods are spooky, that is spooky too. Yeah, it is spooky. That's that's fair, that's fair. Okay, so the first of the trials for today uh will be a tarot reading. Um, I hear both of you can kind of ish sort of maybe reading tarot cards.
I know some things.
So uh Chris's girlfriend, honorary guest, you will go first uh and you will give Nate uh a reading and then he will return the favor, uh, as it were.
All right. Let's just do a three-card spread since it's super easy.
From 15:00
I'm serious. Okay, seriously.
It is, it's super easy.
Because you can do like a one-card draw, which is supposed to be like a daily thing, or you can do a three-card draw, which is supposed to be past, present, future, correct? Yes, and then you can do the tree thing.
And then that the tree thing is [expletive] bonkers. It's it's very bonkers. Yeah, it's a lot of setups you're just making [expletive] up at that point, right?
Uh I feel like with tarot, you're you're kind of just going, okay, this card, well, what do we got here? We got the page of cups. Well, the cups is an emotional thing, so this is gonna be and it's just kind of interpreting what the cards tell you and what they feel you like. Tarot has a bunch of really crazy rules like you're supposed to shuffle and talk and you know, touch your deck every day in order to I touch my deck every day. You gotta touch your deck, you gotta you gotta shuffle it and stroke it and rub it.
Do you follow the um the reverse cards or no? Do you think there's enough cards in the deck already that you don't need to reverse them?
I use reversals if they pop up typically. It's just because they do have the different meanings, and I like that, you know. Right. I feel like everything, you can't have everything all one way. There's gotta be a foil to that, and not every card is a foil to another. So to have a card be a foil to itself works really well. So I know things, mate.
See, this is fascinating because on one hand, it seems like they're having a nice conversation, but on the other hand, I feel like Nate's totally [expletive] testing and like and she is killing it. Chris's girlfriend is knocking it out of the box. Yeah, she's crushing it, crushing it. It's making me mad. See, his face is getting red.
Alright, so other less superior Nate. Uh question. Should I have to do that? What do you want to know about? What are you what are the things you want to hear about?
I just want to know where I'm gonna be at future wise. Alright, so we're gonna do like am I following the right path.
Okay.
You know?
So we'll do a three-card draw. The first card I'm gonna pull is going to be the card that I think represents where you're at right now, and then the next two cards will be where you're going and what you need to focus on to get to that point.
I just imagine she takes a pile of [expletive]. I was imagining like a dumpster fire. Alright. So on top of Mount Lemon.
Wait, but this is so [expletive] accurate, it blew my [expletive] mind right now. I haven't seen it either.
I'm gonna have you pull three cards. Normally I would pull them for you, but I want you to pull them.
Okay. And for the people who, once again, are too cheap to pay the dollar for our Patreon. Um these cards are well used. They're uh I can see there's there's some some bending, some they got character. Yeah, they got a story to tell.
They're gorgeous. They are a tarot deck. Can I drop names or is that?
Oh yeah, we no one's gonna [expletive] listen to the show.
So this is the tarot of the divine deck by Yoshi Yoshitani. It's based on mythology, deities, and folklore from around the world, and I think it's absolutely beautiful. So you drew three cards.
I'm going to Nate, I'm legit worried I might not be the first book.
So your first card is the fool. And the for those who are actually paying to see this because it's a gorgeous illustration, we got the little mermaid, and she's on the rock staring at the kingdom before her. So if we open up our little guidebook, because I like to use the guidebook to make sure that I'm not just pulling stuff out of my butt.
The fool.
That's uh that's Chris's.
Shut the [expletive] up, maiden.
So the meaning of the fool upright is beginnings, possibilities, impulsiveness, innocence, and a free spirit. Uh, the fool rests on a pinnacle of decision, ready to dive out of her subconscious and into the physical world and transform from animal to human, carefree and excited by new life, regardless of warnings. What this tells me is you tend to be a risk taker and you're gonna kind of go with your life and do what you want, regardless of what other people around you say. You're just gonna be like, hey, I wanna I wanna invest in this thing. If your wife says I don't know about that, then uh probably you're gonna do it anyway.
Yeah, I totally get that.
That's what I get. The first card. The second card is gonna be the three of wands. We've got this lovely little little girl driving, climbing. What is it called? The three of three of wands.
The three of wands of wands.
So let's see. That's near the back. Let's see if we can find it.
Like Lebiosa. Yes, Levi Hosa.
It is based off of the Romanian fairy tale, the enchanted pig. The three of wands represents hard work and travel. The princess takes a long journey to rescue her prince, making sacrifices and surviving trials along the way. If she stays motivated, she'll be rewarded. So, in order to get what you want, you're gonna need to stay motivated. You're gonna keep going and climbing ever higher. And considering what you do and how you're climbing all the time, I feel like this is a perfect card for you.
I do.
Uh, I'd imagine you were actually doing something very similar to that today.
It was close. It was very close. But Nate, if you take a closer look at the card, that almost looks like Hogwarts in the background. It does. I'm super excited about that. Yes. So far, it's been extremely accurate.
From 20:00
It's actually a little creepy. It pertains to conversations we were having earlier today. Like literally a little bit. I'm partially thinking because the girlfriend is a witch, but yes.
The girlfriend is a witch. How do you think I got him to like me in the first place? It's all that uh devil vagina magic. Anyway.
I'll get you.
So the final card that we've drawn is the reverse page of swords. The art on this one is represented by Princess Parazade, which is an Antolia or Arabic folktale. I'll let you see. Go for it. You take a look. Um the reverse meaning is bluntness, cynicism, defensiveness, sullenness, or being all talk. So, in order to achieve your dreams, you have to be careful to not be cynical. You can't be super defensive. You have to make sure that you back up what you do, uh what you say with what you do.
Okay.
Um, basically, the sword represents youthful intelligence. They use their wit and optimism to succeed where others have failed.
I do that.
They are a harboring of new beginnings and new ideas for those around them, but they're also a warning: don't be too full of yourself. It's a [expletive] green eminence card.
That's what she just [expletive] never. I am never full of myself. This was crazy spot on. It was.
Was it?
And I guess I I this is not like pre-this is not set up. I watched her shuffle the deck. They have not met before. Literally, they met outside on the road like five minutes before this episode aired. Awkwardly, by the way. Awkwardly, yeah.
I I stared him down to assert my dominance as the spooky [expletive].
I was like, that could be Chris's girlfriend. Who am I kidding? That's probably Chris's girlfriend.
I mean, on my street, nobody leaves their house. Like, if you saw somebody in the road while come like, have you ever seen anybody except for the guy who knocked on your window?
What? Standing in the middle of the road in in your neighborhood. And he waved at me.
Where do I I waved back? Turns out there is a second gay couple there in the next year. Yeah, he was jiggling away, waving at me. That's I've never seen this obese uh elderly man with my shirt on. All right. Yeah. Well, that happened. These things happen. Um didn't see that in my cards. Honestly, I I would just be happy to meet one of my [expletive] neighbors. I think you've had more interaction in my neighborhood than I've had in two years in my neighborhood.
I think so. Maybe they like me more. They see my face and they're like, that guy's going places. Yeah. Even though he pulled the fool card and the three of wands. I [expletive] died.
This is amazing.
So good. All right, Nate. Let's see. Okay. Let's see. Let me see. I'm gonna move this to the side a little bit.
So uh just be sure to be kind to my cards because, like me, they're a little bit [expletive].
Okay, gotcha.
And they don't hold back.
Okay. I'm just gonna do a quick shuffle because we're running on the time frame. And my time frame is I'm hungry. And Nate's promised to take me to dinner after this.
Y'all, y'all were promised food because I don't, I don't, I didn't see that in my contract.
I've been coming here for it feels like years now, and this is the first time he's ever offered to take me to dinner.
So it's usually because he's feeding my boyfriend. Somebody's got to.
Is that true? I do actually usually feed Chris. Alright, here we go. Actually, I'm gonna be like, Oh my god.
You just cut that and then I will peel some off. What is this [expletive] bridge? Hey.
Go nuts.
Okay, here we go.
Let's see what we got. Let's see what we got.
So let's go. Boom, boom, boom.
I didn't ask a question though, so what are you asking the deck? What are you finding out? Are you just gonna read the game?
What isn't he asking a deck? I just let it tell me what's going down. That's how I do a reading.
All right, let's see.
So let's start off from the get-go. Ooh, we have the reverse Knight of Swords. Now, there's a picture of a guy riding a horse and it is upside down. So that tells me that you and Chris do freaky stuff, and Chris is well endowed. That's what this is telling me. Now, next one. Reverse the moon. You're a witch. The last one.
Correct.
Ace of Wands. There is a calligraphy brush dipping into the sun. And that tells me that you have long black flowing hair, but are afraid of the sun. Now, how accurate was I on my reading?
Two of the three were pretty good. That first card you pulled. The first card you pulled, only one half of that was correct. Sorry, Chris. Uh I am definitely less vanilla than he is. Oh, okay. But uh I, you know, the other part. Well, he could take some getting I have a good time with that.
Okay. The main is spoken. Yep. It is what it is. I saw it in the cards. Huge wiener, uh riding uh on a horse, um the moon, your witch, and long black, flowing hair, afraid of the sun. Oh, because then uh there's flames too, so you'll burst into flames if you're in the sun for too long.
That is that is very accurate. I do not handle the sun well.
I've made my decision, and Chris's girlfriend has won the first try.
From 25:00
Dang it.
That's me clapping, not anybody fapping for those who aren't paying for the beautiful visual that is made.
Or are we? I don't know, you're gonna have to pay to find out. Yeah. Yeah, you don't know. Or pay to not find out either way. We'll tell you. Are you intrigued? Here goes the last single listener of this show. And it was my mom. She's like, nope, not intrigued. Not one, but I've seen that [expletive]. Um all right, so this next section, this next trial of the spooky [expletive], yes, is trivia. Not truly. Okay. So I know both of you are very knowledgeable. So uh because girlfriend was not very subtly dropping uh knowledge bombs while we were, you know, even just having mild conversation. I call that flexing. Yeah, she was flexing. Totes my goats.
Um, so but also I do know, Nate, you are uh just uh a well of useless horror, dark lots of useless information flows through my brain. Yeah, absolutely. So so I think they're on equal grounds, all right? Yep. Um, so I'm gonna ask 14 questions. Okay. Um I'm gonna ask you. You didn't want to do 13 questions? I did. What the [expletive]'s going on here? I know. It's not Friday the 13th, though. Well, that's still spooky. Fine, I'll get rid of one. Okay, thank you. See, he's so high maintenance, it's unbelievable.
So the 14th could be like a sudden death round if we're gonna.
Only if you guys tie on 13 questions, which would there's some of these I would I would be surprised if you guys got all these questions. So are we gonna do this like we have to buzz in or are you gonna go back and forth? First person, no, no. Uh oh, actually. Wow. What do you guys what would you guys prefer? You can either do first person answer or back and forth. And there are questions where I know you won't just know the number. There are some numeric questions, and we'll do it prices right style, where the closest without going over or some [expletive], which is the closest. Um, one dollar. What would what would you guys that guy? I always love the like person that's like 300, and then the next person's like 301.
Like so that person can't win unless they get the exact number like that is a [expletive].
The worst person on there is the guy who does one dollar, and then the next guy goes two dollars. Yeah, like you [expletive].
There's literally no possible way. Um, so what do you guys prefer? Do you want to go back and forth or first person answer? I will dealer your not dealer's choice. Um spooky [expletive] choice.
I'm kind of leaning towards going back and forth because I have a problem with stepping over people when it comes to anything trivia game night related. Thoughts? We've heard some of that.
I agree. I feel like it might get a little chaotic if we're both trying to answer and like we don't want to have to talk over each other. So for this the sake of the listeners' ears, that might be smarter to just bounce back and forth. And if a person doesn't know, they can concede and say, Do you know?
Yeah.
That's double points if the person who was asked the question can't answer and the other one can't.
But all right. It has decided. Okay, it's been decided. All right, we will start with our guest, Chris's girlfriend. That's fair. Um, she's a lady, first one. And a witch, apparently. A lady witch. Um, all right, first question for you. How many saw films are there?
Oh, we including like the spin-offs like Jigsaw, or are we just doing like the basics?
Official saw films, yes. It doesn't have to be numbered.
Um I wanna say nine. Because I know that I remember watching up to Saw Six, and then there were a couple that came after, plus the Jigsaw movie. So if the answer is eight and then there's the Jigsaw movie, it would be nine.
You have to give me one answer, including Jigsaw movie.
Let's go nine.
You are correct, it is nine. I wanted to say eight. I'm going to uh let me get a [expletive] pen. Say something interesting while I get a pen, because I don't trust you to keep score, to be honest. That's kind of rude. I well.
What are you gonna be for Halloween?
Um, we're debating right now. We would like to go as like a group costume, but this year my oldest son doesn't even want to dress up. Uh sometimes I wonder if he's even my child. But the youngest is going as Marshall from Paw Patrol.
Aww. I know he's adorable. He's adorable.
On his way to being a furry already. I know. He must be so proud of it.
It's too much. And he always wants to wrestle.
Uh okay, so uh, and to be uh full disclosure, I've written Nate and Chris's girlfriend, and I have awarded Chris's girlfriend one point for completely accurate answer. Uh Nate, do you have any follow-up to that? Before I ask you the next question, do you have any follow-up to I would have got that wrong. I would have totally said eight. Okay. Um, so fun fact uh you you were totally correct. There are nine films. Um there is, if you include uh there, they pit they created a short film of the original movie to pitch the movie. So I would have accepted ten films as well because technically they created a short version of the first one as well. But that wasn't in the theaters.
Because there's like seven and then there's spiral and then there's jigsaw as well.
Jesus, she's even naming it. You are so [expletive] up. I'm out. You are so [expletive]. Okay. Uh all right. Well, let's see. Nate, for you. Next question. Okay. Which movie featured the first accredited jump scare?
From 30:00
Ooh. The first accredited jump scare? Yeah.
I will and I will give you two options. You may either name the movie that is accredited with the first theatrical jump scare, like you mentioned jump scare in the film, or tell me what was the jump scare. I'll accept that as well.
Let's see. It's gotta be black and white. Man, this is tough. I'm just gonna go with the birds.
Is that your final answer? Yes. No. Oh, what was it? Wait, wait, wait. Would you like to steal? Give Chris his girlfriend.
I mean, I wanna I wanna take a guess, but only because I'm not sure if this is it, but I still think it's a neat little bit of trivia if you guys don't know it. Um, I feel like the tingler would have been a really, really cool one. It was a black and white film, and when it first premiered, that was my that was my nickname in high school. When it first premiered, they set up like little vibration tools in the chairs in the theaters and would occasionally set them off as the tingler was on screen and people would freak out in the theaters because they would vibrate.
What did he like? I mean tingled.
It was like a parasite, and it would, I think, go through the back of your neck and like get in, and then it would take over, like kind of invasion of the body snatcher style, from what I remember. But I remember there was like a big thing where like they had it and it was the tingler, and I think Vincent Price might have been in it. Oh, but it was huge, it was really cool. I know that's not the answer, but like cool trivia anyway.
It is, in fact, not the answer. I award you no point. Okay, and they got emergency. Um, would you guys like to know?
Who lost his way? Yes, I would like to know.
Uh so I actually just saw this on Netflix documentary. So uh the movie is called Cat People, and the very first jump scare. Uh I don't know the year, unfortunately. The very first jump scare is the cat people. So obviously, cat's right, there's like hissing that usually in uh indicates that there's like a cat monster or whatever. And uh the protagonist is walking down the street, hears a hiss, and it's the brakes of a bus, and then she gets on the bus, and that is attributed in film as the first jump scare. The first like fake. It was a bus. It was a bus that sounded the brakes hissed, and it seemed like the cat from the cat people. Well, yeah, I'm holding no punches. Uh, I I love to Google this [expletive].
I don't know the answers to any of these, but um, I I held no punches. Some of these are easier and some of these are [expletive] hard. Okay. But we're gonna learn. We're gonna learn this journey.
That one was tough.
So uh, where are we at? We're at uh Nate Zero. Well, you don't have to write that down. Okay, I just felt good. And uh Chris's girlfriend, you are still at one point. Alright, next up, uh back to Chris's girlfriend. Put these four television shows in order. Alright. Tales from the Crypt, Movie Macabre with a Vira Mistress of the Dark, Twilight Zone, and Fright Knight. Put them in order from earliest or oldest to newest, most recent.
So we're talking William Shatner's Fright Night?
The oldest, the uh Los Angeles one.
Okay.
And it's the oldest one, whatever the oldest. There are you're right, there are multiple Fright Nights, um, but I'm I'm thinking of the very first.
I want to say Twilight Zone, Fright Knight, Elvira, and then the last one. I don't remember. Tales from the Crypt? Tales from the Crypt, yeah. Tales from the Crypt was was later. Um, I remember watching that when I was a kid, and I loved that show.
Is that your final answer? Yes, she's right. Um, so uh the oldest is Twilight Zone 1959, followed by Fright Knight, the original one uh which was filmed like Los Angeles. There's a New York version too, um, 1970, Elvira Mistress of the Dark, 1981, um, which was kind of filmed to replace Fright Knight once that went off the air. And then Tales from the Crypt is the most recent one, 1989. I award you one point. You're up to two points. That's a good one.
That was a good one.
And Nate, you are up. I'm ready.
I'm so ready for this.
Okay. What recent movie has become the highest grossing horror movie of all time? Recent movie? Yeah, it is the current highest grossing movie of all time, roughly $700 million. Um is that movie?
So it's the highest grossing horror movie.
Horror movie, sorry, yes, horror movie of all time. And it is, yeah, I get through a hint in there a little bit, it is a recent movie.
Twilight uh breaking dawn. Have you seen that? It's terrifying. Is that your final answer?
No, that's not my final answer. Okay, realistic. Yeah. Oh, um, it correct. Yeah, that's correct.
Did it say which one did better? The first part or the second part?
Uh, the first part. Well, you know, I don't know. It only listed part one. I didn't, so I don't know if part two did worse or if maybe my dad is out in other words.
From 35:00
Because honestly, I love the first part way better than the second part.
Yeah, because this I think we talked about this last episode. The second part is just this movie again, right? But kind of forced.
Thoughts, Chris Girlfriend?
Uh Stephen King's It is actually one of my favorites, and I absolutely love the remake of it. I think Tim Curry in the classic made for television series was fantastic. I love Tim Curry with all my heart. But the remake of it, I could watch that on repeat. I love that so much. I think Bill Skarsgard did a fantastic job. They took so much of the actual book and threw it back in. I'm glad they kept some of it out because some of that was janky. But it's one of my favorite.
What part did they leave the orgy they left out?
Yes, the child orgy. Yeah.
Excuse me.
Yeah, there's a child orgy.
Oh, I didn't know.
Like the part where they uh do like the Blood Brothers in the movie or whatever. Uh-huh. That actually turns into like, hey, let's all bang Bev. Oh.
Which some people debate that like it was that we need that seeing their innocence, and was that like uh uh the symbol of them changing from child to adult and growing, or was that just Stephen King being real [expletive] creepy?
Yeah, I'm gonna go with it's a toss-up really nice. You'll never know. Wow. Uh okay. Well, that was something I didn't know. You're welcome. Um, I give you both one point for that. What? Both of you. Both of you. Watch me. I just did it. Chris's girlfriend, three points, and Nate, two points. All right. Uh, so that was your question, though. So it goes back to Autumn. Oh, Chris's girlfriend, sorry. Yeah, Chris's girlfriend. Though let's just call it. She's gonna she's gonna earn her name this episode. Um my god. Chris's girlfriend. This 2010 horror film features a haunted mansion in the home in my home state of Rhode Island and has an evil tooth fairy.
Oh my gosh, uh, don't be afraid of the darkest by Gabriel Totoro. It's my favorite.
Wow. I'm not even gonna bother asking what's your final answer. You would literally know the answer to that.
So Oh my gosh, that is my favorite movie. I made Chris watch that with me. He did not like it. No, but he didn't think it was horror, and I was like, it is horror, it's so cool. I'm sorry, I got so excited.
No, that's fine. That's a good one. Nate, have you seen that movie? Yes. What are your thoughts? It it's we know it's it's Chris Garfront's favorite movie.
I like all those movies that he does, so there's a tarot deck that's based on Guillermo del Horror Network. Yes, you should totally come get it.
Like, side note my favorite subtitle movie, a Labyrinthino Delfano.
Is that Pan's Labyrinth? Yeah, yeah. I love it. I've not seen it. You haven't seen it? No, and it's not even made off the show.
No, it's not a horror movie. Like, there's some scary spots, and like the monsters are really cool in it, but like the eyeball guy, yes.
Guilma del Toro has this fantastic ability to craft worlds out of um like folklore. So he sprinkles all these cool little tidbits of mythology into everything that he does, and it's absolutely one of my favorite things. Um, for example, with Pan's Labyrinth, if you go in and you eat food from the guy with the eyes, um, technically that's you're not supposed to do that. And the reason being is because he's part of the Faye. And in mythology, if you eat Faye food, you're trapped in the fairy world forever. Uh, Del Toro kind of twisted that and just went, Well, he's gonna eat you now if you eat his snacks, which, you know, fair reaction. Somebody eats my snacks, I'm gonna probably try and bite their hand off too.
Right. But like it almost took like a religious spin on it too. It made it like a gluttony kind of thing with how he had like his loose skin and how he eats people whole and stuff. Like, it was really good.
The special effects and that alone is so cool.
I'm sorry I didn't hear anything you just said because I just imagined myself being kicked off my own show because you guys are hitting it off over there. Welcome to the spooky hour. Yeah, like I don't even know I'm here except to ask you guys questions, but uh add it to my list of apparent movies I need to watch.
Yes.
You're not gonna watch any of these movies. You still haven't watched Robot Jocks.
That was mine, so it's his next.
Uh okay. Uh give her a point. You keeping track of the points? Oh, yeah. Yeah, give me a point. Uh, because girlfriend four, Nate uh said two. Okay, that's accurate. Um okay. Uh this is a numeric question, so special rules this round. Uh, if you get it right, cool. If you don't, we're going to play going back and forth until someone does. Okay. Um much screen time does Freddy Kruger get in the first nightmare on Elm Street movie?
Ooh, total screen time. Yes. I want to say it's not that much. I want to say 11 minutes.
That is incorrect. So we will now proceed to uh just kind of back and forth, like the price is right. Um I can either give you each one guess and see who is closer, or we can go back and forth until one of you literally picks the number.
I think who's closer. So I already said 11, so I think that would be fair.
Okay. Uh because girlfriend, you are up next.
This only includes like his face, right?
Uh how how I I want to I want to be very sure that I'm like I mean I didn't sit here and [expletive] time it, so I don't know what they were basing it on, to be honest. Um it's it's when he is actually in some manner is present. Yeah, and I know he's a shapeshifter, so I I I guess that's what you're getting at, but I'm assuming him.
From 40:00
Like, I'm also trying because like there are parts of his body like his claw, or there's a scene where he's like, I'm your boyfriend now, Nancy, and it's his tongue. He's like so.
Alright, take a guess. I may not count this question because that is a super fair um I won't super fair uh like question that I cannot answer.
I want to say time that he's actually on screen is like six minutes and some odd seconds.
Okay, is that your final answer?
Yes.
The closer is you automate seven minutes.
Damn it.
But golly gee, whippers.
I was gonna say four, and then I thought about the entire scene where he's chasing Nancy through the house and she drags him, and I was like, that had to have been more than four minutes. And I'm thinking about like all the other times when he's he's just kind of on screen for flashes of seconds, and I was like, it's gotta be like 6 30 something, but I didn't want to get that precise.
So man, that's tough because like you said, there's a lot of like where his presence is there, yeah, but it's not him. Like that's tough.
I took that one off the internet, so I'm hoping that's right, to be totally honest. I believe it, because like Wes Craven intentionally he knew that it is scarier not seeing the enemy than actually seeing the Which is totally accurate. So absolutely. Um, but I am gonna give that to Autumn. She was close to it.
That's fine, that's fine. No, it's fine.
I'm not playing my prices right rules you went over, so you didn't like it.
I'm not even upset about being winning the tester.
Not even because it sounds like you're a little upset. No, I'm not even. Let's keep going. Next question. Next question. Uh well, it returns uh Chris Girlfriend back to Chris Girlfriend. Yeah, correct. This Australian horror film about cursed children's book character ended up becoming a gay icon after someone posted a meme of the film listed in the LGBT section of Netflix.
Was it the Baba Duck?
Is that your final answer?
I want it to be.
Yes. Yeah. He's like a gay icon now because uh well, it started so I'll tell the story. It started with the fact that of course everybody's always trying to make everything gay. So they like they made his whole thing like, yeah, he's just like a guy like living in someone's basement, like in the suburban Australia, whatever. So it was a joke. Then it wasn't determined if it was real or not, and to today it doesn't matter. Somebody posted an image online that was it added to the LGBT section, and then it just exploded as a meme after that. And there's like all kinds of like videos, illustrations, cosplays of Gay Babaduke. Um, so that is correct. Chris's girlfriend, you were up to five points. Neat, you were at a depressing two. Holy [expletive].
Don't worry about that tiebreaker. No, it's fine. I mean okay. I'm ready. Alright, let's do it. Name all seven members of the original Adams family. Oh, if you want clarification of what original is referring to, I can do that. Uh-huh. This one actually looks like that. So there's uh Morticia. Uh Wednesday.
Hugsley. Um Fester. Um Thing. No.
Original number. Thing was actually added later on.
Oh, okay. Well I don't know the grandma's name. Grandma?
I'll accept it. Grandmama. Oh, okay. Grandmama. What's that put me at? Um I lost track.
That he named all of them. I think thing should have been like a bonus thing, so I definitely think he should have got that point.
Silence. This is my game, not yours. Um, okay, so you named all of them, but you're missing one, and I think I said seven, but I didn't have Uncle Fester on here, and he was on here, so I think I miscounted. So that's actually eight original characters. So you're missing one that I know you didn't name. Um, I'll give you a hint. Uh, it is a pet of Puxley.
A pet?
Yeah. If you can get that one, I will give you.
Holy sneaky's a pet. Pugsley's pet.
So when I say original Adams family, it started as a comic. Yes. Um, and so in the comic, uh, Pugsley has a pet. Um I can tell you, I won't give you the name. If you give me the name, I'll still give it to you. A pet octopus? I think, or squid or something or something. Inky. Is that your final answer? Yes. No. Um go ahead. You won't get this point if you get it right, but you can't answer it.
I'm I'm half tempted to be like, can you? And he might punch you in the face. No. Because it's one that if you hear, like, you're gonna you're gonna know it. You know it instantly. I don't know it either, but if I heard it, I'd be like, yeah, that's the one.
Right. Because right off the top of the head. I don't know. Kitty cat, Aristotle, or cousin it. Not cousin it. There's no way. Aristotle. Final answer. Yes, it is Aristotle. But not giving you the point because I gave you hints and multiple choice. What is this? The pity pet hour of Net One Presents? No. That's every episode.
Maybe like half a point?
No, it's fine. No, it's not. I see what kind of game this is becoming. You're just belitting him more by trying to give him pity points. Yeah, I don't want pity points.
From 45:00
Oh no, but he got it. That's the thing, he did so well.
He did. He got her all by himself. Someone's still bitter about Mortal Kombat trivia. This is my chance. Um back to Chris's girlfriend. Relating to the town of his victims, Freddie Cougar also is referred to by what nickname in the original movie?
Oh.
It also they do use it in some other things like comics as well and whatnot. He has this like other lesser known nickname.
I'm trying to picture the the town name because it was the blank slasher, I think. Oh what was the town he was in?
Oh my god.
It wasn't I I want to say Sunnyvale, but like I know that's not correct. Oh, what was it?
He was We do not have all night, unfortunately. I will be needing to.
I'm gonna pass this over to Other Nate and see. Other Nate.
Other Nate, do you uh not primary name everything she said, but for the life of me, I can't think of that [expletive] town. It is the most suburban sounding town name. I know that.
Is it like Westfield or Westbrook or something like that?
Sunnyside.
That's what I thought, too. Or Sunnyvale.
Is that your final answer? Sunnyside's my final answer. No, you're wrong. Oh [expletive]. Um, do you both give up? Yes, I do. You guys are you guys are spot on. Uh it is slasher is the second word. Springwood. Springwood! Like Springfield, like yes. Yeah.
I I was I could feel the S on the tip of my tongue, and I was like, what the hell?
So in his like backstory, before they catch him, he's referred to as the Springwood slasher.
Yeah.
Um so they ever really catch him.
I mean, they didn't catch him, but they did burn him alive. Right, and I said, And that only made the problem worse.
All right, that's a bonus question for you guys. Why uh does the mob burn Freddy Cougar arrive according to alive according to the original movie?
Hmm.
You can go Chris's girlfriend if you want.
I was just thinking about it. You it's your question.
I'm trying to think about it. You don't have to be nice to him. Yeah, he has no power here. Yeah, nobody's nice to me. Ever why did they I want to say We'll come back to you? We'll see. Okay, okay, yeah.
He was taking the children, and the parents got scared and they the the police wouldn't do anything. So they decided to take matters into their own hands.
You're right. The parents are the ones who they riot and burn him down, but they riot for a specific reason.
Um wasn't it because he he kidnapped a little girl?
Surprisingly, no, that's not the reason. I thought that was it, it is, but it's not. Uh there's a more specific reason than that. Uh back to you, other name.
Honestly, I have no clue. Okay.
Uh, it is because uh in the original movie, he goes, they catch him, like the police catch him, he goes to trial, but they have to throw the trial away because someone didn't sign the warrant correctly. And so they throw the trial away, and that's when the [expletive] parents freak the [expletive] out riot and burn they they like the corner. Yeah, they corner him in the boiler and then burn him down. Yeah, yep.
Tale as old as time. We've seen it once we've seen it a thousand times, you know.
I mean, we kind of have. It's funny because uh, and then they keep expanding on that backstory of like every couple of like movies, they like add more to it. And so Autumn had that or Chris Girl had that uh great part about um so he more even more of his backstory. So his mom worked at Insane Asylum, right? And she do you know this one? Yep, yeah. So well then it's not interesting, I'm not gonna mention it. Well, that was the whole premise of which one was it? Was it the the the third one? I think it was like three or four The Dream Child Yeah, yeah, where the nuns are all Dream Warriors, yeah. Yeah, um, okay, so neck, who whose question is it now?
I think it's mine. I agree with that.
Yeah, give her the question. I don't care, she's gonna win anyway. Yeah, it's fine. Uh [expletive] me. How many people associated with the production of the movie The Exorcist died during making it? This is insane. This is my I did not give her the answers before this. How do you know that answer?
So I know there was like two or three staff members, and then one of the lead characters who played what's his name? Something Burke. They died, and there were a couple more, but I know because it was very notorious that the excess was considered cursed, just like poltergeist. Um, the reason why poltergeist had such a bad rap is because the little girl who would play Carol Ann in the movies ended up dying really young, and a lot of people attribute that to the fact that they used actual human skeletons in the pool scene of the original, which you know, the whole premise of the movie is don't [expletive] with the dead, don't desecrate the dead people. And then what do they do in the goddamn movie? They go and they use actual human skeletons.
Like, bruh, you you literally made a movie about whether it's a bad idea. Why are you doing it?
It's a tale's old stuff.
All right, this is what we're gonna do. In order for Nate to tie, to even tie, okay, he has to get every one of my last four questions right to tie you. Cool. Okay. So I'm just gonna go rapid fire. Nate has to get every single question.
From 50:00
Okay.
Okay? I do accept the challenge.
Okay. I accept it.
Okay. What classic horror movie features a serial killer in a William Shatner mask?
In a William Shatner mask? And it's a classic horror movie. Classic.
And we know we get it. Of course, girlfriend, you know the answer. Yeah. Um, I'll give you a hint. Like the the mask was beaten up and like for production. They didn't. Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Is that your That's my final answer. That's the only thing I could think of. Answer.
Yeah, that's it. Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Leatherface. I can see that being a Will Shatner thing.
Halloween.
The Mike Myers manuscript? Yeah. It's a William Shatner mask. Man, that's terrible.
Well, I guess I'll just ask the other questions. Yeah. I mean, and she knew that anyway. You're so fine. No, I'm terrible. You picked hard questions. This is crazy. Yeah, right? Who would have thought? Alright, uh, a few more just for fun. Um, which horror movie was filmed in just seven days? I'm gonna give Nate always the first choice because girlfriend will probably know it anyway. Whole movie? Whole movie, or yeah, the whole movie was filmed in seven days. Uh honestly, I have no idea. Chris Girlfriend.
Was it the Blair Witch project?
Ooh, that would make sense. No.
It was oh no, the Really Witch was eight. Was it paranormal activity?
It was paranormal activity. Okay, I don't think I should get a point for that, but like you're not. I'm glad you're already won it. Okay. We're down with points. She threw the most ultimate shade when she draw the full card before this [expletive] match even starts. Yeah, it's that's how I knew the [expletive] was over. Alright. What is unusual about the video tape in the ring? Chris. Or Nate. Other Nate. What's unusual about the tape in the ring? Yeah, when she's watching the tape in the ring, what is what is unusual about that?
The whole [expletive] thing's unusual.
Like what? Alright, fine, you get that point. Um, something people like to call out is um it has it doesn't have a timestamp. This [expletive] is crazy. Either she [expletive] Googled the same article as me or I didn't say- No, that movie terrified me as a child.
Like, number one, I initially I was like, it's gotta be that little that little [expletive] coming out of the TV, but then that seemed too obvious.
Chris Girlfriend, tell the truth. Did I give you any kind of advantage? Did I give you any hints? There's there's only one question on here. I knew the [expletive] Tooth Fairy thing was your favorite movie, okay? That was actually meant to be uh a pity point in case Nate was destroying you. And little did I know, I probably should have maybe played a little bit more to Nate's trance. Wow. Not the she I yeah, you did not cheat, you did not have any advantage, you just you knew. Um and then the last question is just because I really like this movie. Um is this the 14th question? Yeah. The animatronic cat from Hocus Pocus would later be used in what television show? Oh, um Sabrina. Wow, and you both knew that?
Yeah, you guys are crazy.
You're still all right, so Thackeray Binks was his name with a TH.
Thackeray Binks. I was gonna make spelling his name one of the [expletive] Thackeray Binks.
He was played by the same person who on NCIS it's like um it's what what is his name?
Thackeray Banks. I'm not 60 years old enough.
No, no, I well, yeah, no, I live with my grandparents, so that explains it. But um Anthony Dnozo, his buddy, I can't remember his name, but he was on NCIS and um the the like geeky one?
It was the geeky one, yeah.
And that is Thackeray Banks.
He was a hunk in Hocus Pocus. He is not in it.
